Pass a Constitutional Amendment that automatically applies ineligibility for reelection to all sitting members of Congress after their elected term in office.

Although the idea has been floating around in my head for quite some time now, it was Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, that hit the nail on the head on how we citizens need to make some positive changes to right the wrongs that our Legislators have been allowed to evolve their jobs into.  Before these changes to Legislative jobs can be enacted we basically must have a call for a Constitutional Convention where we can bypass the Legislators and get our Congress back on the right track!!

Buffet offered  the idea to change a guideline to remove Legislators through the comment, “I could end the deficit in 5 minutes,” he told CNBC. “You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election.  Although that certainly would be a interesting approach to removing Legislators who fail to act on a specific national problem, perhaps a better general approach is needed to rein in an out of control Legislature.

Many of you may remember the 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971…before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land…all because of public pressure.

When Warren Buffet asked each reader of his Request For Action to forward an email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise, that turned on the light bulb an how we citizens can turn this all around.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message for a Constitutional Convention.  This is one idea that really should be passed around and the Legislator job rules that you see listed below applied to a Constitutional Amendment to Eliminate Professional Congressmen.
Included in this Constitutional Amendment is the
Congressional Reform Act of 2011 that includes the following:

Be it resolved that ALL Congressmen jobs and benefits shall be limited in the following manner:
1. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/13. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen.
Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive the message. Maybe it is time to see THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!!!!!

If you agree with the above, pass it on. If not, just ignore the very real problem regarding professional Congressmen. You can make a change in the United States of America. Please participate by passing this on to your friends and relatives and later be sure to VOTE for this Constitutional Amendment . Please help keep this movement moving forward and take back Congress from the hands of those who would buy their votes, ie vested Special Interest Groups (SIGS), the Political Action Committees (PACs) and those would destroy these United States of America.

I agree with this idea. I received an email with the above mentioned, forwarded it to 20 people as asked. There was no petition to go along with it or a plan to implement. So what is the next step?

The next step is reach out to as many people who are within your area of influence and contact them. This effort is not just to share this with them , but urge them to contact Congressmen to sponsor these Constitutional Amendments. Simply, it comes down to getting enough Congressmen to vote to accept this course of action, in order to put it to the States for a Vote. As you may suspect, this will not be an easy task. However, all is not lost! We have all seen Congress acquiesce to public opinion and respond to public polls. With public opinion behind this effort, in light of the worst job performance rating that they have ever had, the time is ripe to force them to vote with public opinion. The only alternative that they have is risk being removed from office in the next election cycle. Their inaction or failure to support these amendments will only show their true colours, that they wish to remain Professional Politicians. So, the next steps after a favorable vote can be followed at this link ( Wish us all well in our efforts to take back our country from those who would keep United States Citizens from exercising their rights to hold our representatives accountable.
