There are countless ways that our security and freedoms can be threatened. Here is just a sample of them.
When most people think of “radical Islam,” they think of terrorism – and with good reason. Since 1970 nearly 50,000 documented acts of terrorism and/or related violence have been committed by radical Islamists worldwide. Since 9/11, over 13,000 such acts have been committed worldwide.
Dozens of terrorist plots have been foiled on American soil since 9/11. In many of these, citizen awareness and/or tips helped law enforcement authorities discover and foil the plot. Veteran Defenders of America is committed to a proactive posture that will increase local and community awareness and recognition of suspicious activity.
In the event that a terrorist attack is successful, Veteran Defenders of America leaders and volunteers can provide invaluable assistance to government officials and community residents. This is the reactive posture of Veteran Defenders of America.
For example, the training members of our Armed Forces receive would be invaluable in response to a terrorist bombing of a subway, airport, bridge or complex of office buildings. In fact, veterans provided such valuable assistance in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.
Over the past several years, Western Europe and the United Kingdom have experienced a frightening increase in the number of verbal and physical assaults by Muslims on non-Muslims. In France there have been numerous reports of women who venture near Muslim “enclaves” and are raped by Muslims because they are not perceived as being properly attired (such as wearing the hijab).
Click here to see a video of Nabeel Qureshi and David Wood asking questions at Arabfest, Dearborn. The date is June 21st, 2009.
In early 2009, a violent Muslim crowd literally chased dozens of British police officers for blocks, chanting “Allahu Akbar” and calling for the death of the officers. This astonishing incident was captured on video and posted on YouTube.
Click here to see another video entitled “Muslims Attack London Police Jan 3, 2009” which is rather graphic in nature and contains expletives not fit for viewing on this site. The nature of the video reveals what has happened in England with an unarmed police force which was helpless against a mob of militant muslims chasing police through the streets.
In Germany, especially in schools where the Muslim population has reached a majority of the students, there are increasing reports of violence committed by Muslim students against non-Muslims.
Such violence and intimidation is now spreading to America. In the summer of 2009, a handful of young people, attempting to interview Muslims at an Arab International festival in Dearborn, Michigan, were assaulted by Muslims, some of whom were identified as “security.” This was captured on video and posted on YouTube.
At a pro-Islamic parade in Manhattan, Muslims aggressively accosted a Jewish woman who was holding a sign in protest. During Israel’s attack into Gaza in late 2008/early 2009, pro-Palestinian Muslims took to the streets in cities across America. Video from some of these events showed Muslims shouting “death to the Jews” and “shower, shower, shower” — frightening references to the Holocaust.
These are the kinds of assaults that the “establishment media” do not show America.
Veteran Defenders of America can help be the eyes and ears of law enforcement in communities where incidents like these occur.
Islamist infiltration of our defense, law enforcement, and intelligence networks
Paul Sperry, in his eye-opening book Infiltration: How Muslim Spies and Subversives Have Penetrated Washington, documents the extent to which Islamists intent on harming us have infiltrated our political, defense, law enforcement and intelligence networks.
From the FBI’s Arabic translator program to high-level positions in the Department of Defense, militant Islamists have succeeded in exploiting America’s commitment to pluralism and tolerance, as well as the cancer of “political correctness,” to place themselves in positions to undermine our security. For example, Mohammed Reis Wasool, a sergeant in the Fairfax County (Virginia) Police Department, illegally accessed a classified federal police database at the request of a fellow Muslim. Why? Because the fellow Muslim suspected he was under police surveillance.
Rasool learned that the FBI was in fact keeping the other man under surveillance, and he tipped him off. When agents raided the man’s home they found him destroying evidence, which led them to believe the man had been tipped off by a mole. Their investigation led them to Rasool. They later learned that Rasool had accessed the database at least fifteen times to check on the status of other Muslim contacts.
Infiltration of our schools
Veterans are grandparents and parents. We are concerned about not only the present, but the future – and our children are the future.
Militant Muslims are taking advantage of the lack of knowledge of Islam and its history among Americans to incorporate information about Islam into our public schools that ranges from misleading to outright false. They are peddling a sanitized revision of Islam and its violent history to textbook publishers, school board officials, and school administrators and teachers, most of whom know very little about the doctrines, ideology and history of Islam.
This misrepresentation of Islam has been well-documented by many sources, including the respected American Textbook Council.
Why should this matter to veterans? Because the defense of America must also include defense against domestic threats. Islamists are indoctrinating our children with a message about the history and doctrines of Islam that does not paint a true and accurate picture.
For instance, one textbook, in a series of questions and answers about Islam, asks “How did the caliphs [Islamic leaders] treat the peoples of the societies into which they expanded? Answer: they treated them with tolerance.”
This is so demonstrably historically false as to be absurd if it weren’t so tragic. It is estimated that, since the birth of Islam, 270 million people have died at its hand, and tens of millions of others have been enslaved. When Islam poured out of Arabia in the 7th century it conquered North Africa, the Middle East, much of Asia Minor, Spain and southern Europe, and parts of India. Death, enslavement and persecution was the norm in these conquests. This is hardly what anyone would term “tolerance.”
As Lenin, Stalin, Hitler and Mao understood, controlling what is taught to our children significantly impacts what they will believe and how they will act as adults. As grandparents and parents, veterans can help be the “eyes and ears” concerning what is being taught in the schools.
Natural Disaster Threats
Each year, thousands of citizens are displaced, injured and killed by natural disasters. Although the threats of natural disasters cannot be prevented, preparing for such disasters, proper response and timing are critical in preventing additional loss of both injury and death. All veterans have initial response, basic survival and application skills to deal with threats when confronted.
One goal of Veteran Defenders of America is to add additional training to these basic learned skills to include application to their respective families, neighborhoods and communities. Informing and preparing family members of the dangers of these threats may result in further injury or loss of life. Simple skills of providing families with 72 hour emergency preparedness kits and a preparedness plan outlined by Homeland Security in the event of disasters are critical in surviving damage from flood, tornado, hurricane and earthquakes.
Veterans are trained to respond with application skills in adverse conditions which average citizens lack. With awareness and application of these basic skills in a time of chaos and disorientation, veterans can prevent additional injury and loss of life to their families, communities and beyond. With our P.A.I.R. system (prepare, aware, inform and report), entire networks of veterans will be mobilized to act.
Available training for our veteran network includes all those basic skills included in the Citizen Emergency Response Training units. Ongoing newsletters and regularly scheduled updates on all available preparedness through regional training modules will be coordinated through Emergency Management Agency zones. Advanced training is available for training trainers of these skills.
